Frequently Asked Questions (Teens)
Q: How old does a student have to be to take your program?
A: Students can begin the class when they are 14 years and 7 months of age or older
Q: Where does the class take place?
A: At this time, classes are offered virtual
Q: When is the state permit test taken?
A: After the fourth day of class, the permit test is taken in the office. For students taking a class via Zoom the exams will be taken during class time in their home. The exam is a state-mandated exam (the same one given at DPS). Students will be trained to pass it.
Q: How/Where do you receive your permit?
A: Permits are received after students take the permit test and pass it. Assurance Driving School LLC will give them the permit application, certificate of passing the exam, and list of required documents. The student takes the documents to DPS, and they will then receive the permit.
Payment
Q: When is payment due?
A: Payment is due upon enrollment, via credit card or a check. Because of COVID, we are offering a payment plan that includes two payments of the same amount. If paying by check, please send to:

Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: Payments may be made online via website (stripe) and credit card, while check and cash are accepted in-person at our school. When writing a check, please address it to Assurance Driving School LLC and include the student’s name.
Note: Before receiving the completion certificate, all payment must be made.
Q: How/when does behind the wheel begin?
A: Once you have the permit, please click here to schedule drive times.
Q: What happens once behind-the-wheel classes are finished?
A: Once a student completes all the hours in their behind-the-wheel classes, we will issue a certificate. Take the certificate to the DMV, along with the permit and a copy of the parent log to schedule a road test. The state of Texas also requires a copy of the completed impact video. Since DPS is overwhelmed with drive time requests, you may schedule drive time with our driving school.
Q: Do I have to pay extra for behind-the-wheel classes?
A: All of our teen packages includes the 32 hour of classroom time and all behind-the-wheel hours (7 hours of training and 7 hours of observation). If you have taken the classroom package somewhere else, you may separately purchase the behind-the-wheel portion of the class.
Q: What if I have taken the class online or somewhere else?
A: Please note the previous answer
Q: Do you do student home pickup/drop off for teen behind-the-wheel classes?
A: Unfortunately, we do not at this time
